Dowry - A Social Evil

Dowry - A Social Evil   “Any young man, who makes dowry a condition to marriage, discredits his education and his country and dishonors womanhood”— Mahatma Gandhi Dowry or Dahej, one of the deep-rooted social evils, is flourishing in our society at an unprecedented rate. There is no denying the fact that modern citizens condemn it, yet this practice varies according to the region, caste, and creed. Although it is difficult to determine the exact cause, here is a tentative list of responsible factors: • Greed Factor • Patriarchal Society • Religious Constraints • Constraints related to Caste/Creed • Lack of Formal Education • Conservative Thinking • Desire to flaunt Social Status • Low Status of Women • A False Sense of Prestige • Illiteracy & Ignorance • Lack of Knowledge about Anti-Dowry Laws From being a financial burden on a daughter’s family to wastage of money, this evil is silently claiming the lives of innocent married

Dost

Dost     Best friends are truly responsible for making our lives worth living. Not only are they always up for fun experiences but they are also the ones who are there for us when we need them the most.   My best friend has dragged me out from the depths of despair when no one else was watching. My best friend held me all night when my heart exploded and my pride was shattered. My best friend cradled me in the midst of debilitating heartbreak. My best friend has been a hell of a lot more than just a friend. She’s been a sister, a partner, a roommate, a mother figure and — at times — even an enemy.   We’re best friends because you love me even when I’m terrible. It’s easy to love someone when they’re doing well, it’s easy when there’s nothing but happiness and good vibes. The real challenge comes when everything is crap. You’re not a fun person to be around, people are screening your number and you’re a damn social pariah. But you don’t care.   We’re best friends bec

Loneliness

L oneliness Almost all of us have experienced loneliness at some point. It is the pain we have felt following a breakup, perhaps the loss of a loved one, or a move away from home. We are vulnerable to feeling lonely at any point in our lives. Loneliness is commonly used to describe a negative emotional state experienced when there is a difference between the relationships one wishes to have and those one  perceives one has . The unpleasant feelings of loneliness are subjective; researchers have found loneliness is not about the amount of time one spends with other people or alone. It is related more to  quality  of relationships, rather than quantity. A lonely person feels that he or she is not understood by others, and may not think they hold meaningful relationships. For some people, loneliness may be temporary and easily relieved (such as a close friend moving away, or a spouse returning home after a work trip). For others, loneliness ca

Human

Humans   Being Selfish Makes Us Better Humans:   It's an undeniable fact that all humans have a selfish side whether they accept it or not. Psychological data obtained from previous researchers suggested that humans tend to be selfish because they like the attention .   “Humans are selfish by nature” is a generalization which is both refuted and supported by religions and moral codes around the world .  Humans, by contrast, are ultra social: possessed of an enhanced capacity for empathy, an unparalleled sensitivity to the needs of others, a unique level of concern about their welfare, and an ability to create moral norms that generalize and enforce these tendencies.   I was trying to depict selfishness as a not-so-positive characteristic of human nature and by default say something to the point that humans are just selfish things.   Basically my thinking was that by being selfish, we exercise a natural part of who we already are and then that part grows. They worship the Lord  Ganesha  for welfare and prosperity and Goddess  Lakshmi  for wealth and wisdom. But we should always celebrate without burning firecrackers because it increases the pollution which is harmful for us. This festival is celebrated in the  Hindu month  of Kart
